How Often Should Fire Doors Be Inspected?
The right inspection interval depends on the building type, its use, the level of risk and the guidance or legal requirements that apply to that particular premises. For example, higher-risk residential buildings typically require regular checks of communal fire doors, and some regimes also require periodic inspection of flat entrance doors.
We do not apply a single blanket frequency to every building. We will talk through the property, the applicable guidance and your current records, help you settle on a proportionate schedule, and arrange the inspection through our specialist inspection contractor where a formal report is needed.
Inspection vs Repairs
An inspection identifies the condition of each door and records defects. Remedial repairs are a separate step, and that is the part we deliver. If defects are found we can quote to put them right, or you can use the report with another contractor.
Fire door repairsInspection vs Replacement
A failed or defective inspection result does not automatically mean a door must be replaced. Many doors can be repaired or upgraded where the construction is known and the damage is within repairable limits. We only recommend replacement when remedial work cannot restore the required performance.
