How often should fire doors be inspected?

Do you carry out the fire door inspections yourselves?

Formal fire door inspections and reports are carried out by a specialist fire door inspection contractor we work with, and we can arrange that for you. Parsec Fire Doors then delivers the remedial works, repairs, installation and replacement identified in the report. We also assess doors on site ourselves to confirm the scope and cost of remedial or replacement work.

What is the difference between FD30 and FD60?

FD30 doorsets are tested to resist fire for 30 minutes and FD60 for 60 minutes. The rating you need depends on the compartmentation strategy for the building — we confirm the requirement from the inspection report, fire risk assessment or building information rather than assuming.

Can a damaged fire door be repaired instead of replaced?

Very often, yes, although suitability always depends on the existing doorset and the defect. Gaps, seal damage, poorly hung leaves and worn ironmongery are frequently repairable. We only recommend replacement where the leaf or frame can no longer reasonably be brought back to the required condition.

Yes. Most of our work is in occupied flats, HMOs and commercial premises. We agree access arrangements with residents or site staff in advance and leave every area clean and secure at the end of each day.

Where an inspection is arranged through our specialist inspection partner, you receive their door-by-door report. From that report, or from an existing report or fire risk assessment action list, we provide a costed schedule of remedial works so you can plan and budget with confidence.
